What is Bankruptcy?

Bankruptcy is a legal proceeding in which an individual who cannot pay his or her bills can get a new financial start. The right to file for bankruptcy is provided by federal law, and all bankruptcy cases are handled in federal court. Filing bankruptcy immediately stops all of your creditors from seeking to collect debts from you, at least until your debts are sorted out according to the law.

There are two main types of Bankruptcy available: Chapter 7 and Chapter 13.

Should you file for Bankruptcy?

Is your property going to be foreclosed on?
Is your car about to be repossessed?
Are you having difficulty paying mounting credit card bills?
Are your creditors harassing you?
Do you owe medical bills?
Do you have any judgments against you?
Do you have your pay check garnished by creditors?
Are you having IRS problems?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then you should seek professional advice. This may or may not mean that you should consider filing bankruptcy. Let us help you decide.

Often, average people find themselves in situations that are completely beyond their control. They may lose their job,or they may develop a serious illness. Others may simply find that their debt has gotten out of control.

The law is written to entitle those in genuine need to be given a second chance.

For most people, filing bankruptcy is considered the last resort, but actually it could provide a 'second chance'. Filing bankruptcy can relieve stress and provide the opportunity to make a new start.
